Kristin von der Goltz

As a soloist and performer, Kristin von der Goltz is equally successful with the both the modern and the Baroque cello repertoire. She studied with William Pleeth in London and has worked with the London Philharmonic, the New Philharmonia London under Sinopli, and the Hanover Band.

An active member of the Freiburger Barockorchester from 1994 until 2004, Kristin von der Goltz performed with this orchestra both as soloist and ensemble musician in concerts throughout the world and in many recordings; she was the featured soloist in a performance of C. P. E. Bach’s Concerto in B Major for cello and orchestra.

Since 2005, the Munich State Opera House has regularly invited Kristin von der Goltz to work as the principal cellist in Baroque opera productions (directed by Ivor Bolton).

Kristin von der Goltz founded the piano trio, Trio Vivente, with Anne Katharina Schreiber (violin) and Jutta Ernst (Klavier); they have performed together regularly since 1992. Trio Vivente has released three recordings featuring the works of Haydn and Schubert. Ms. von der Goltz also collaborates with pianist Yayoi Takano. Together they perform the Romantic and modern duo repertoire; in 2005 they had their first appearances in Japan.

Kristin von der Goltz has taught modern and Baroque cello at the International Bohemia Festival in Prague, Köthener Herbst, Sommerakademie Freiburg, and the International Summercourse Schloss Waldegg in Switzerland. She teaches regularly at the Musikhochschule München (Baroque cello) and Regensburg (modern cello). In 2008 she will be serve as a juror on the panel of the Leipzig International Bach Competition.

She has recorded two solo CDs of sonatas by J. Klein and caprices by J. M. C. Dall’Abaco for the international label Raumklang. A recording of sonatas by Mr. Dard is scheduled for 2007. Kristin von der Goltz has been a member of the Berliner Barock Solisten since 2006.
